1. Overview

RiffVault ("the App") is an "Offline-First" application designed for musicians. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy. By default, your data resides strictly on your device. Cloud storage is only utilized if you explicitly enable Cloud Sync features.

2. Permissions We Request

Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO)

We request access to your microphone solely to allow you to record musical ideas ("licks") within the App. These recordings are processed locally on your device and saved directly to your device's internal storage.

Storage (READ_MEDIA_AUDIO / Filesystem)

We use storage permissions to save your recordings and database files. All data is stored in the App's sandbox or the user-accessible Documents folder if you choose to export a backup.

3. Cloud Sync & Storage

If you subscribe to a Pro plan and enable Cloud Sync:

  • Data Backup: Encrypted copies of your audio files and database metadata (songs, licks, lyrics) will be securely uploaded to our cloud servers (hosted by Supabase).
  • Purpose: This data is stored solely for the purpose of synchronizing your library across your devices and providing an off-site backup.
  • Ownership: You retain full ownership of your data. We do not access, sell, or share your private audio files. Deleting your account will permanently remove all your data from our servers.

4. AI Analysis

The App utilizes a hybrid analysis approach:

  • Offline Analysis (BPM & Key): Basic musical analysis is performed strictly offline on your device.
  • Cloud AI: If you use advanced features (Auto-Tagging, Lyrics), audio data is sent to the RiffVault Cloud Service. This data is processed transiently by our AI providers (e.g., Google) and is not used to train public models.

5. Third-Party Services

The App operates independently but may use trusted third-party services:

  • Supabase: For authentication, database, and file storage.
  • Google Gemini: For AI analysis (Lyrics, Genres).
  • RevenueCat: For subscription management.
