RiffVault ("the App") is an "Offline-First" application designed for musicians. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data or audio recordings to our servers.

2. Permissions We Request

Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO)

We request access to your microphone solely to allow you to record musical ideas ("licks") within the App. These recordings are processed locally on your device and saved directly to your device's internal storage.

Storage (READ_MEDIA_AUDIO / Filesystem)

We use storage permissions to save your recordings and database files. All data is stored in the App's sandbox or the user-accessible Documents folder if you choose to export a backup.

3. Data Usage & AI

The App utilizes a hybrid analysis approach:

  • Offline Analysis (BPM & Key): Basic musical analysis (Tempo and Key detection) is performed strictly offline on your device using local algorithms. No audio data leaves your device for this process.
  • Optional Cloud AI: You may opt-in to use Cloud AI features for advanced tasks like auto-tagging, description generation, or lyric transcription.
  • Cloud Processing: If you use these optional features, a temporary snippet of your audio or its metadata may be sent to the RiffVault Cloud AI Service. This data is processed transiently and is not used to train models.

4. Third-Party Services

The App operates independently. However, it may use standard operating system services (Android/iOS) for functionality like audio playback and file management.
