Everything you need to know about managing your data and powering up RiffVault.

Backups & Restore

RiffVault is 100% offline. Your data lives on your device, so backups are crucial.

1 Creating a Backup

Go to Settings (Profile Icon) > Storage & Backup and tap "Create Backup".

This saves a .json file directly to your device's Documents folder containing:

  • All your Audio recordings (Base64 encoded)
  • Song arrangements and structures
  • Tags, Lyrics, and Metadata

2 Restoring Data

To restore, tap "Restore Backup" in Settings and select your previously saved JSON file.
Warning Restoring will overwrite your current library. Make sure to back up your current state first!

Setting up AI Features

Unlock auto-tagging, lyric transcription, and descriptions using RiffVault Cloud AI.

  1. Sign In

    Open RiffVault and tap "Sign In/Register". Enter your email to receive a secure Magic Link. Tap the link in your email to log in instantly.

    Analyze Licks

    Open any lick and tap "AI Tools". Select your analysis type. Tasks run in the Background Queue (visible in the new AI tab). You can safely navigate away, and the riff will be locked from editing until analysis completes to prevent conflicts.

Core Workflow

Rapid Capture

Tap Record to start. Tap Stop to save instantly. The app stays ready for your next idea immediately. Visit the Library later to organize.

Background Analysis

Queue up multiple riffs for analysis. Check the "AI Tools" tab to see progress or cancel tasks. The app automatically updates your library when finished.

Song Builder

Create tracks (Guitar, Vocals, etc). Tap "+ Add Riff" to insert licks from your library. Long-press and drag to reorder clips on the timeline.
